How to love yourself more…
Confidence and self-esteem are vital to how we feel. Whatever people struggle with, they always suffer with low self-esteem at the same time. Whilst most assume that confidence and self-esteem are the same thing, they are quite different.
Confidence is about what you project on the outside. You can practice and pretend to be confident so confidence is something you can learn, repeat and build. It’s only the outer layer of how you appear to others.
Self-esteem is where it’s really at because this is how you feel about yourself. Self-esteem is how you actually rate yourself.
Whilst confidence is external, self-esteem is the internal stuff.
You can have one without the other, neither or both. Seemingly confident people can hide debilitating low self-esteem.
Low self-esteem can be an issue in isolation but is always present within other problems such as anxiety or depression.
Building self-esteem is so central to happiness, I made it an important part of the journal exercises. The very first exercise in the journal is about learning to love yourself.
“To help yourself, you must be yourself, so be more you.”
This is something I must say to clients at least once a day and it’s all about self-esteem.
If you’re ready to improve your self-esteem, a great place to start is by buying the journal.
